Winter in New Zealand

In 2006 Luana and I went to New Zealand to visit Simon and Jetaime and family. It was a hot 90+ here when we left Utah, but it was in the 50's when we arrived in Auckland.

The weather in Utah got hotter as the weather in New Zealand got colder. Well, two days ago Jetaime posted some new pictures on her blog showing how different the weather can be there while we are experiancing a heat wave here.



The pictures on this posting is from Jetaime, and you can see just how much frost is on the trees and on the grass in the early mornings.

There was one more thing about NZ that we soon found out, when we get up in the mornings, we can see our own breath. Boy, it seems very cold at night and the worst part is most homes in NZ do not have central heating.


Perhaps you can see that even during the winter days in NZ, the grass stays green, but many of the trees loose their leaves. At least the cows don't seem to change colors, just ask Bella as she climbs the fence to talk to the cows on the other side.

I hope our next trip to NZ will be in their summer. It may get hot there during their hot season, but the weather does not seem to slow down the timley arrival of Santa Clause on Christmas. I guess he must go for a dip in the ocean between each city he visits.
